New Delhi: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has called the Bangladesh Liberation War a “unique event” in the history of the twentieth century.
Rajnath Singh said, “It was a moral fight against oppression, injustice and crimes. Common people were brutally hacked and killed. The conscience of the world was awakened by the heinous acts of Operation Searchlight.” At the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi, the Minister paid heartfelt tributes to ‘Bangabandhu’ Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, saying that the inspiring leadership of the first President of Bangladesh was a guiding light for the people of the country in their quest for freedom. “The ideas of Bangabandhu are the basis of a shining Bangladesh which is slowly progressing on its development path,” he said.
On the occasion of Armed Forces Day of Bangladesh, Singh visited Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi. The program was organized by Bangladesh High Commission. On behalf of the Indian Armed Forces, Singh conveyed his appreciation to the Bangladeshi Armed Forces and wished them all the best in their efforts to achieve peace and security.
