In the fifth episode of ‘Gabby Duran & The Unsittables,’ season 2, titled ‘Mimi from Miami,’ Gabby’s childhood friend Mimi pays a surprise visit to Gabby on her birthday. Instead of being thrilled, Gabby seems disappointed at having her over on her special day. As it turns out, Mimi was born on the same day as Gabby, and ever since they were kids, they’ve spent all their birthdays together so that the party could have more people.
But neither of them wholeheartedly enjoyed them because of the shared attention, always inevitably resulting in both of them trying to outdo each other. So when Mimi walks in without prior notice, Gabby is inconsolably sad, especially when she learns that her mother and sister had a big role in bringing her. Within a few minutes, the party expectedly turns out to be a social disaster as they both begin to passive-aggressively compete against one another to win everyone’s attention.
But watching Mimi usurp the title of “birthday girl” without caring for the world causes Gabby to lash out at her. In response, Mimi dumps all of her anger upon the birthday cake, and before Gabby can take it back, it drops on the ground leaving behind a huge mess. Quite instinctively, Gabby squeals into laughter and tells her that she loves her but does not ever want to share her birthday with Mimi. They both apologize and instantly become friends again.
