‘Mine’ is a Korean drama series that revolves around the lives of two strong and ambitious women striving to live life on their own terms. Jung Seo-hyun is the first daughter-in-law of the family that owns the Hyowon Group, while Seo Hi-soo is the second one who is also a former actress. Created by Baek Mi-kyoung and Lee Na-Jeong, the mystery series first premiered in May 2021 on tvN and Netflix.

The thriller drama is known for the melodrama that gives it a soapy feel. Although the storyline can sometimes be hard to keep up with, it is intriguing and gets people deeply invested in the show. The critics also praised the performances of the cast members. As the first season comes to an end, the fans are eagerly waiting to hear if there will be a second edition of the show. So, here is everything we’ve gathered!

Mine Season 2 Release Date

‘Mine’ season 1 released on May 8, 2021, on Netflix and concluded its run on June 27, 2021. The episodes released on tvN in South Korea at 9 pm KT (Korean Team) before landing on the streaming service. The first season comprises 16 episodes that run for about 62-81 minutes each.

With regard to the second season, here is what you need to know. The future of the show is nebulous since an official announcement is yet to be made confirming whether or not the show will return for another round. The thriller series has experienced a considerable rise in the number of viewers through its first season. While 1.46 million viewers watched the premiere episode, the finale drew in 2.42 million people, making it the highest-rated episode of season 1. However, the freshman season ends on a conclusive note, making it hard to fathom if another installment might be on the cards. However, it seems that if another season is ordered, it might follow a new set of characters.

The filming for the first season reportedly began in Spring. This means that the production team needs a headstart of approximately a month to prepare a new season for release. So, if the show is greenlit for another installment by Fall 2021 and begins filming in early 2022, we can expect ‘Mine’ season 2 to release sometime in Spring 2022.

Mine Season 2 Cast: Who can be in it?

The prominent characters in the first season are Seo Hi-soo (Lee Bo-young) and Jung Seo-hyun (Kim Seo-hyung) and their respective husbands, Han Ji-yong (Lee Hyun-wook) and Han Jin-ho (Park Hyuk-kwon). Han Ha-joon (Jung Hyun-joon) is Ji-yong’s son and Hi-soo’s stepson, whereas Kang Ja-kyung/Lee Hye-jin (Ok Ja-yeon) is Ha-joon’s tutor and his biological mother.

Other characters who are significant to the storyline are Yang Soon-hye (Park Won-sook), Chairman Han Suk-chul (Jung Dong-hwan), Suzy Choi (Kim Jung-hwa), Butler Joo (Park Sung-yeon), Kim Yu-yeon (Jung Yi-seo), and Oh Soo-young (Jo Yoon-seo). But if the series returns with a second season, there is a possibility we might not see any of the cast members portraying these characters again. Since the show is likely to become an anthology series, a new cast might play new characters if it returns for a second round.

Mine Season 2 Plot: What can it be About?

The first season ends with all the plot threads tying up neatly and gives us a glimpse of life after Ji-yong’s death. It is revealed that Joo killed Ji-yong to protect Hi-soo. Six months after the incident, Kim Yu-yeon settles in as a member of the family. Lee Hye-jin continues to tutor Ha-joon, and Hi-soo revives her acting career. The two women also establish a stable relationship as they are both an essential part of Ha-joon’s life. It is implied that Seo-hyun starts a new chapter in life with her first love Suzy Choi. If there is a second season, it might shine a light on the story of another family. It would most probably revolve around a similar theme, about women redefining their lives and fulfilling their potential.
