Author ONE is one of, if not the most amazing authors that the anime industry has to offer.
For a lot of people, consistency is NOT as easy as you might think, especially in the anime industry.
You make one manga series, it succeeds, gets an anime adaptation, and then……. Bam! The author is rarely seen in the spotlight again.
It’s not their fault since the artistic qualities of a specific author are not always grasped by the masses.
However, when you are someone like ONE, you can’t help but be appreciated by fans all around the globe for your consistent performance.
If you guys don’t know, ONE is the author of the very popular One Punch Man and Mob Psycho 100.
That’s right ladies and gentlemen, he is the guy behind all these amazing fights that you enjoyed in both of these series.
And it’s not just the fights. He is responsible for the story as well so yeah, he is awesome.
But in today’s article, we aren’t going to discuss One Punch Man but rather, the other popular creation of ONE, which is Mob Psycho 100.
Mob Psycho 100 is a stunning action, slice-of-life, and comedy series that struck through the hearts of fans all around the globe and managed to capture massive attention altogether.
Moreover, for a lot of people, it was a competitor for the throne of “Best Work Of ONE” which gave this series even more credibility.
And the release of such an amazing anime also marks the demand for a second season.
So the series got a second season. However, you know us very well. If we got one season, enjoyed it, and got another season and enjoyed it as well, we are bound to ask for yet another season.

So fans of Mob Psycho 100 also asked for another season but have they got it yet?

Is it announced yet? What’s the release date? What are the speculations? And all such questions were raised by anime fans worldwide.
And today, weebs, we are going to answer this question only. That’s right ladies and gentlemen, this is your one-stop destination to know everything about Mob Psycho 100 Season 3.
This Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 – Everything You Need To Know In 2021. Let’s dive deep and discuss this topic in a bit more detail.
But before we get our mind gears moving for Season 3, let’s just remind ourselves about the first and second seasons of Mob Psycho 100.
Everything We Know So Far About Mob Psycho 100
Mob Psycho 100 is a 12 episode anime series that hit the TVs back in July 2016.
It is an anime adaptation of a very popular manga series of the same name.
The manga was written and illustrated by the very talented ONE. ONE is also the creator of the very popular One Punch Man and manga like Chikyuu No Kaijuu.
The anime is directed by Tachikawa Yuzuru and animated by Studio Bones. Tachikawa Yuzuru is known in the industry for his directorial works in shows like Death Parade and Deca-Dence.
Whereas, Studio Bones has been responsible for the very famous Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and My Hero Academia.
This action, supernatural, slice-of-life show approaches the narrative in a sort of satirical yet relatable format.
Talking about the narrative, the anime tells us about a guy named Shigeo Kageyama who has been nicknamed Mob and his daily life as an ESPer.
Mob is an eighth-grader, living his school life as one of the most obscure students to be found.
Although he has psychic powers and is profound at using them, Mob chooses a life where he doesn’t rely on these powers and instead, tries to live like a normal being.
However, as stated earlier, he is an obscure student but not because of his psychic powers.
Instead, his obscurity comes from the fact that despite being blessed, he is a failure as a student.
Physically or mentally, he has almost zero qualities to make him stand out in this massive world of scholars.
However, even after having a hard school life, he never relies on his blessing and tries to improve overall as a student on his own.
By the way, he also has a crush on Tsubomi chan who turns out to be his prime motivation for becoming a stronger individual.
So yeah, that’s Shigeo Kageyama for you. Blessed and cursed by nature at the same time.
His younger brother, however, is an ideal student and is in fact, one of the smartest in his country.
But this difference in academics never brings trouble to the eyes of these brothers and their love stands strong.
Other than his parents, Tsubomi chan, and his younger brother Ritsu, there is one other person in Mob’s monotonous life.
That’s his master Reigen Arataka. A con artist who took in Mob as his apprentice and owns a spirit exorcism business.
Mob does his part-time job with Reigen and Reigen (claims) to teach Mob how to control his powers.
So that’s the premise of Mob Psycho 100. As the series progresses, new disturbances hit the lives of Mob and we start to learn about life from his perspective.
As you can see, this series is heavy in terms of slice-of-life storytelling and progression, making it a unique watch overall.
And fans love this kind of storytelling, making it so popular in the industry. So for now, that’s all we know about Mob Psycho 100.
Now that we have revised Mob Psycho 100 as a whole, why not take a look at the release dates and announcements of the same and try to analyze if we have any info about it or not.
Official Announcements And Release Date Of Mob Psycho 100 Season 3
Ladies and gentlemen, I hate to break this to you but as of the time I am writing this, there have been no official announcements regarding the release of Mob Psycho 100 season 3.
There aren’t any announcements regarding the making or production of the series as well, making it a doubtful case.
But I know that you are fans of the series. So unless and until you don’t know the core reason for this, you aren’t going to spare us, are you?
Well, that should do it then. Keep reading forward since we are going to dive and explore all the factors that could potentially lead to a third season.
Understanding them would help us get a clearer picture of whether a sequel would even happen or not.
But for now, let’s just ASSUME that Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 would be released.
In an event that it’s being made without our knowledge, what could POTENTIALLY be the release date for the sequel.
If we hit our head hard enough, we would remember that the first season of the franchise aired back in 2016 while the second season aired back in 2019.
This makes the series have a gap of 3 years within 2 installments. Although this is not enough data to consider it as a pattern, if we were to just speculate, then the potential release date of Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 could be 2022.
With an average of 3 years, the next installment could be released by the next year if Studio Bones prepares it similarly.
So that’s the speculation regarding the release of Mob Psycho 100. Even though there are no official announcements, the speculations can say that the series would come into talks by next year.
But that’s a very one-sided way to look at the situation. There are plenty of other factors like the source material, profit, sales, etc that decide the future of a series.
So let’s dive deeper into these factors and see if Mob Psycho has a considerable future or not.
Starting with the source material.
More Source Material Information For Mob Psycho 100 Season 3
Mob Psycho 100 is an anime adaptation of the Mob Psycho 100 manga series. Therefore, Mob Psycho 100 manga is the source material for the anime and this source material is extremely effective for calculating the potential sequel for the franchise.
So let’s take a closer look at that manga. Mob Psycho 100 manga started publishing in April 2012 and finished back in December 2017.
In other words, the manga series has a definite conclusion to itself given by author ONE and has stopped bringing out new chapters.
There are a total of 101 chapters of the manga accumulated in 16 volumes. This is just trivial, but Mob Psycho 100, much like One Punch Man, is a web manga.
Author ONE is known for being a web manga artist and this fact can be cross-checked in his art style as well.
Coming back to Mob Psycho 100, the manga series was another successful work that brought even more praise to its creator.
And that allowed the series to get an anime adaptation in the first place. However, for the adaptation of a 3rd season, it is essential to note whether a manga has enough chapters left or not.
If it does then that’s amazing but if it doesn’t then that’s decisive. So let’s just take a look at the number of chapters Mob Psycho has left for further anime adaptation.
So here’s the deal, the first season of Mob Psycho 100 adapted the first 50 chapters of the manga.
Therefore, the first season starts from Chapter 1 and ends in chapter 50. Season 2 on the other hand, has only adapted the next 40 chapters of the manga.
Thus, season 2 starts from chapter 51 and ends in chapter 91. Now, this is the biggest problem here.
As stated earlier, the manga has a total of 101 chapters (excluding omakes and specials).
Therefore, by looking at the difference of manga chapters available to manga chapters used previously, we can say one thing for sure.
And that is that the manga doesn’t have enough source material. That’s right ladies and gentlemen, the biggest cause for the absence of Mob Psycho 100 season 3 is the lack of source material.
You see, the manga series has ended already so we don’t have any way to get more content for a proper storyline.
Moreover, even in the previous 2 seasons, Mob Psycho 100 took at least 40 chapters into consideration.
So making a season out of 10 final chapters is kind of pointless. Not to mention, many manga readers claim that the end of the manga itself wasn’t as amazing as people might think.
It was rather disappointing. Therefore, they feel that the anime is best to have only 2 seasons because the overall conclusion was great.
All in all, the series might not get a third season because it doesn’t have enough content for the next season since the manga has ended.
But we never know. Maybe ONE comes up with a better ending or something along those lines.
Future isn’t in our hands, right? I mean people thought Code Geass can’t have a sequel but it ended up with one right?
So we aren’t going to stop here. We are going to further dissect all the potential causes for no season 3 of Mob Psycho 100.
Starting with popularity. Let’s take a look at the popularity aspect of this series.
Popularity Information Of Mob Psycho 100 Season 3
Popularity is a great metric to judge the success of an anime. More popularity means more chances for another season from creators.
But how do you judge a specific anime’s “popularity”? Well, I think I have a great metric to do the same.
In fact, I feel I have 3 great metrics to judge the number of hearts an anime has won.
So let’s take a look at all of these metrics individually and with a bit more amount of detail.
First Up, we have Google Trends.
This platform is for the ‘consistency seeker’. You see, anime gets popular during a special occasion like a trailer release or some sort of announcement.
However, that’s not something we can count as “popularity” for our judgment. So we would be looking at Google trends and try to understand how constantly this anime has been the talk of the town.
Now let’s hope on Google Trends and understand the scenario a bit better. As you can see, Mob Psycho 100 has many highs and lows and really drastic ones with that.
This goes to show that the series has been fluctuating in terms of google searches.
It’s quite high at some points and quite low at others. So now we know that Mob Psycho 100 isn’t an anime that is talked about regularly.
It would be very hyped at some parts and not so much on some other parts.
This is worth noting. The next season needs to have high popularity/search demands or else, its release chances could decrease considerably.
And for now, it seems that Mob Psycho 100 isn’t exactly in the green light here.
But don’t lose hope just yet. As said, the searches are quite high at multiple points as well.
So we can be positive for the sequel based on them. Not to mention, the ending of the second season was like a compelling conclusion to the overall story so many viewers might have thought that the series has definitively ended.
So yeah, even if the Google trends for Mob Psycho 100 season 3 aren’t consistent but not necessarily “bad” either.
Their frequency of getting high searches is good. So we can be positive about its release.
So now that we have a great idea about Google Trends, we can move forward on our next platform.
That is Twitter.
Twitter is home to hundreds and thousands of anime fans out there. Not only that, but it is also the home for many anime creators themselves.
Many directors, animators, producers, etc can be reached out on Twitter, making it a great platform for anyone who likes anime in general.
So the popularity of a specific anime on this application would be vital for the “popularity” aspect.
So let’s see how well Mob Psycho 100 is performing on it. Alright! We have great news here.
The official Twitter page of Mob Psycho 100 has 100k followers! That’s a lot! Especially if you are judging on the basis of getting a sequel.
Twitter pages of shows like Uzaki chan and I am standing on a million lives have a much smaller share of followers.
Therefore, for anyone out there who was questioning Mob Psycho 100’s popularity, well the answer is, it’s quite famous.
The anime has a very potent fan following that can motivate the creators to make the next part.
So all my Mob Psycho 100 fans, feel free on Twitter’s end. It’s all going well there.
Now we need to take a closer look at the number of Google searches as our final metric to judge the popularity of a certain anime.
Search In US, UK
The number of Google searches is a crucial metric to assume the potential size of the fan base.
Think about it in this way, more searches mean that the series is very popular.
Like how KonoSuba has over 100k searches on google which clearly shows how popular that series is.
So if Mob Psycho 100 season 3 falls in the same category, we can have more certainty about the release of the next season.
If the search numbers are high, chances for the sequel become wider. So what do the numbers say?
Well, the monthly search volume of Mob Psycho 100 is over 50k on Google. That’s right ladies and gentlemen, Mob Psycho 100 is searched over 50 thousand times over on Google, every single month.
Now many of you might be thinking, “Hey Konosuba was 100k+, why isn’t this the same case with Mob Psycho?
Does that mean that it doesn’t have enough fans or something?!” And the answer to that is NO!
One of the major reasons for fewer search results could be the ending of the series.
Think about it in this way, when you completed season 2, there was a part of you that craved for more.
But there’s also a part of you that felt satisfied after the end of season 2.
Many people who watched the second season felt content with the overall ending and thought that this is it.
It’s fans like you and me who couldn’t help but know more about the series.
So yeah, if you think that these search volumes are horrible then reconsider. Although, I will say that these numbers aren’t exactly amazing either.
The conclusion argument is valid but not as intense as we expect it to be.
So we can say that a search volume of 50k+ for the third season isn’t amazing.
However, from a general viewpoint, it isn’t bad either. It is more inclined on the positive side though.
That’s great. So yeah, all-around, the popularity of Mob Psycho 100 won’t be a major issue.
The results aren’t outstanding but they aren’t ‘trash’ either. They are good enough to give more inclination to the creators for making the series.
But for now, let’s say that the series did in fact, get a third season.
What would be the plot for it? Let’s find out!
Expected Plot Of Mob Psycho 100 Season 3
After such an in-depth look at the series, we have realized that the sequel is not certain.
However, as stated earlier, things can definitely shape for the better so we don’t actually know for sure.
For now, all the speculations say that the sequel isn’t exactly bound to happen. But for a minute, if we say that the sequel does happen, what is going to be the story?
What’s the expected plot of Mob Psycho 100 Season 3? Where would the story progress? etc.
To answer this, we need to consider 2 possibilities. First is the adaptation of the last 10 chapters.
In that case, it is claimed by fans that there’s actually a small arc right after the series ended so they can use that as the content.
Of course, I won’t spoil the ending for you but yeah, the series has a bit of content that they can use in the sequel from the manga.
By the way, I might have not mentioned it before but there are a few omakes as well.
Omakes, if you guys don’t know, are extra stuff from an anime franchise that is mostly canon.
The team working over on Mob Psycho 100 can actually make use of these Omakes.
As you guys know, Mob Psycho 100 isn’t exactly an action anime. It’s a blend of multiple genres including Slice of life.
Therefore, adding Omakes to bring in more volume to the season wouldn’t be a bad idea.
This is because those omakes can easily fit with the SoL nature of the series.
So if we are going the source material route, then yeah, the plot would be another arc with a few extra episodes that would serve as a conclusion to the story.
The other possibility is an anime-exclusive ending to the series. You see, Mob Psycho 100 adapted the manga really well but the last fight in the anime was a bit altered than that of the manga.
Therefore, it gives room to the creators so that they can make an anime-exclusive season where everything is unseen and unheard.
If the creators take that route, then the plot would be just how it has been.
Mob meeting new people, new ESPers, fighting them, and learning in the process. Yeah, it sounds a bit monotonous but the execution by Studio Bones makes it feel so much better.
So we would enjoy the next season nevertheless. For now, we can say that if an anime-exclusive ending took place, we would most likely have new characters and new meetings just how (My Hero Academia Spoilers ahead) various villains gathered after the death of Stain.
There’s a chance that the anime’s exclusive ending would have many new ESPers of psychics getting together to take down Mob or something along those lines.
Whatever that might be we can rest assured that we would enjoy it since the Mob Psycho 100 team never misses a chance to amaze us.
So yeah, that’s what the potential plot for the season would be. It might turn out to be different but based on our speculations, this is the answer we can be certain of.
More of Mob and his adventures. So now that we have a somewhat comprehensive idea of how Mob Psycho 100’s story would unfold, let’s take a look at what the online community has to say.
It is time for Online Reactions of Mob Psycho 100 season 3.
Online Reactions To Mob Psycho 100 Season 3
Online reactions are a great metric to judge the amount of hype or excitement a certain fandom holds for its series.
Whether it’s Attack On Titan or Fullmetal Alchemist, the way the online community reacts to a specific series shapes the journey of that series in the long run.
Therefore, if the Mob Psycho 100 fandom appreciates the idea of the third season, then the creators would be more inclined to make it.
It’s as simple as that. There is a sort of democracy in the making of an anime.
If we as fans decide to be stubborn for our franchises, creators have a high chance of working in our favor.
Remember Hellsing fans? So yeah, let’s try to contemplate what the anime community behind the screens has to say about Mob Psycho 100 Season 3.
So for this specific category, we are going to consider 3 online platforms. These platforms have a lot of anime fans hanging around, having their chats and discussions.
If we get the idea of what the hardcore fans have to say about its sequel then it’s a win for us.
Let’s have a look.
The first platform that we are going to take a look at is Twitter. As I mentioned earlier, Twitter is home to many of our anime buddies and daddies.
In other words, anime viewers and creators. Any sort of positive notion on this platform may lead to direct notice of the creators themselves.
So if the anime fans over on Twitter are excited for the next seasons, it would serve as a great reason to make the sequel.
Now let’s see what the Twitter fandom of Mob Psycho 100 has to say about its 3rd season.
I don’t know if you guys can feel it but the amount of desperation within the hearts of Mob Psycho 100 fans is unreal.
I mean just look how passionate these fans are about the series. The Twitter fandom seems to be absolutely craving for the next installment from the Mob Psycho 100 franchise.
And we can’t blame them, the series was indeed THAT epic. Around the board, we can say that Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 is a yes by our boys over on Twitter.
Keep believing guys, we aren’t going to lose to reality! Mob Psycho 100 would surely summon up and rank super high on Twitter trending as well!
Now let’s head over to our homies over on Reddit and let’s see what they have to say about this amazing anime’s third season.
Reddit is yet another platform where fans have a ton of fun hanging on. Unlike Twitter, there aren’t many creators on this platform but there are Reddit AMA’s where anime creators participate.
Moreover, this platform is mainly used for its versatility and we can’t question it since this platform is very convenient to use.
After all, not every app has the potential to mess up the stock market. Am I right Gamestop?
But yeah, Reddit is incredible and you can feel so after you realize that there are over 2.6 million people over on subreddit r/anime.
So yeah, a positive approach on Reddit would be crucial in our speculations. Let’s take a look at what our anime buddies on Reddit have to say about the series’ sequel.
By the way, before I mention that, I just want to remind you guys that the subreddit r/mobpsycho100 has over 70k members.
That’s a good start. Anyway, if we look at the conversations these guys are having, we would know that they are just what we expected.
You see, Reddit is filled with knowledgeable people who love to dig down into the realm of anime in search of their answers.
And a similar approach is seen by Mob Psycho 100 fans as they try their level best to speculate, formulate, and assume every detail regarding the season.
This would help them to be more precise with their predictions regarding the third season.
The assumptions aren’t too far off from what we have discussed here so don’t worry, you aren’t missing out on anything important.
After all, this is everything you need to know about Mob Psycho 100. But coming back to the topic, we can feel confident that the fans are taking a positive consideration towards the sequel.
Just like Twitter fans, they want to enjoy the series and try their best to know if they would.
Now we can say that the online reaction to Mob Psycho 100 season 3 is motivating.
Of course, the discussions also include the negative aspects of the series but from a general standpoint, we can feel happy around the Reddit fans of this anime.
Now that we are happy with the results of Online Reactions on Twitter and Reddit, let’s just close this segment with one final platform.
Yes, I am talking about the Questionable Quora. We should head over to that website and see what Mob Psycho 100 fans have kept there for us.
Quora is an amazing platform for many anime fans out there. After all, it’s a website where people question everything.
From the making of their favorite anime to the meaning of life, every question would most likely have its answer on this website.
Therefore, our question of Mob Psycho 100 season 3 might just be answered here as well.
So let’s dive into the platform and seek our answers. So our Mob enthusiasts on Quora are having a similar discussion to that on Reddit.
They are speculating about whether or not the next season is going to happen. Although the assumptions and factor considerations are not THAT precise, it’s still decent overall.
But that’s not our takeaway from this. Our takeaway from this is that Quora fans are just as curious about the next season, as your mom about your search history.
They are trying their best, formulating ideas, and noticing patterns from the past. The series has definitely grown a strong fandom that loves to enjoy it with all their hearts.
And this is most certainly vibrant on all of these websites that we have just scouted.
Across the board, Twitter, Reddit, and Quora have positive reactions to Mob Psycho 100. There’s obviously a ray of doubt going on but overall, it’s more inclined towards the demanding side of the story.
But why is that? Why do fans want the next season of this anime so very much?
What’s the need? Well, let’s try to answer this as well.
Why Do We Want Another Season So Badly?
Well to understand the reason for this, you NEED to watch Mob Psycho 100 first and then try to contemplate it.
You see, Mob Psycho 100 is a series that has a large pool of things to love.
Some love it for its Godly animation while others love it for its storytelling. Many like the realistic message that the series gives while some love the beautiful fights.
There are so many reasons to love the show that we can’t exactly pinpoint one certain reason.
But if I have to grossly oversaturate the appeal of the series, it’s the beautiful presentation of an immersive story.
You just can’t strongly hate Mob Psycho 100. You might not be a fan of the art style but overall, the series is unanimously liked and we would discuss it later in the article.
So the reason why fans want the next season is that they love the overall show.
The characters, the narrative, the ideologies are supernatural yet so grounded. This makes it heavily relatable for a lot of people out there.
And we as fans want to experience much more of it. I mean at the end of the day, it’s all about the amount of enjoyment that we get from our favorite series.
In this case, the connective nature of Mob Psycho 100 is the selling point making it a watch that should never seek any ending.
Speaking of endings, another important point to take into consideration is the ending of season 2.
We would discuss this later in the article but for now, we must remember that the series didn’t exactly have a finite conclusion.
Think of it in this way. The story did have a climax in the anime.
However, that was sort of an open-ended climax that gives a lot of room for the next parts of the series.
Therefore, as fans, we want to have the best experience out of the franchise, and that sort of experience is only possible with another installment.
A third season is so demanded because fans want to have more of that precious experience and feel attached to the series.
For now, we can only speculate but from a general standpoint, fans love to watch more installments from their favorite franchises because that’s how connected they feel to it.
Not that hard to understand since I believe that the one reading this is also a massive fan of some anime.
So yeah, this is a brief reason as to why Mob Psycho 100 fans want a third season so badly.
Of course, we can dive more into the minute details of the series but you get the picture.
However, after reading all this, many of you might be wondering, “Are Mob Psycho 100 fans the only ones who look at it this way?
Or are there more positive thoughts on this series aside from the fandom ones?” Well, to answer this question, we need to look at the ratings and reviews of this anime first.
Ratings And Reviews Won So Far By Mob Psycho 100
Positive ratings and reviews are pure indications of the sheer amount of admiration a specific anime gets.
And this is not only exclusive to anime. Any medium of entertainment or any work of art becomes more and more defined as it is pelted by criticisms and bestowed with appreciation.
This is a never-ending chain. And this chain just so happens to be a significant aspect regarding the success of a specific anime.
For Mob Psycho 100, it is important from our end that we try to comprehend the ratings and reviews as we are trying to comprehend the release of Season 3.
Let’s take a look at what our homies have to say about this series’ greatness or weakness.
By the way, for this specific aspect, the 2 sites that we are going to be focusing on are IMDb and MyAnimeList.
Let’s do this.
Starting our analysis, we have one of the most popular entertainment websites of all time, IMDb.
This is a platform that is used by everyone and their mothers because of how convenient it is.
Nevertheless, IMDb also has anime entries over it, making it ideal for our research. So let’s have a look at what IMDb users have to say about our beloved Mob Psycho 100.
Ladies and gentlemen, I have some amazing news for you guys. Just as you would expect, Mob Psycho 100 has an absolutely fantastic rating of 8.6.
That’s right! It is loved THAT much. But I am pretty sure that you aren’t surprised.
Like why would you? It’s such an amazing series that we all can’t help but love it.
The ratings are spectacular but not just the ratings but also reviews. Almost all the reviews about this series are positive and appreciate the hell out of its animation and storytelling.
Not much of a surprise though since we know it’s THAT amazing. However, I would mention that not every single review is completely positive.
There are a few people who criticize the art style but hey, not everyone would vibe with everything.
Irrespective of what you are, you can never have 0 haters. There would definitely be someone out there who doesn’t like your presence.
Oh yeah, life lessons in an anime article. Anyway, we can conclude this section of our discussion by saying that our buddies over on IMDb enjoyed this series to their hearts.
Now let’s head over to MyAnimeList and see what those guys have to say about it.
This is THE website that is ruled by weebs and otakus. If you are here means that 99% of the time, you are an anime fan.
So knowing about a specific anime’s ratings and reviews would be crucial since the amount of accuracy here is incredible.
Our fellow anime lovers hang out a ton on this website so let’s see what they have to say about Mob Psycho 100 and its creation.
Now before we dive deep, let me just remind you guys that MAL has separate entries for separate seasons.
With that out of the way, let’s take a look. So the first entry is the first season of Mob Psycho 100 and as you would expect, the ratings are incredible.
Mob Psycho 100 season 1 has a rating of 8.48! That’s an incredible score. I know what many of you guys are thinking, ‘Hey 8.48 isn’t THAT much.’ Well, my friend, on MAL it is much more than THAT.
Because if you are a frequent user of MAL, you know that anime fans here are extremely critical of their opinions.
Just a minute mistake and bam, you get a 5/10 by 10k anime fans. So such a high score on this platform is an achievement of its own.
Even if we talk about the reviews for the first season, they are unanimously admired with just a few exceptions.
These reviews are heavily filled with animation appreciation but that’s perfectly understandable, right? I mean, it’s Studio Bones.
They do S+ tier stuff. Not to mention, ONE’s incredible writing also accounts for the significant amount of positivity in most reviews.
Overall, the first season of Mob Psycho 100 made an amazing first impression on many anime fans.
Now let’s dive into the second season of the franchise. A lot of times, the sequel turns out to be rather disappointing due to a stronger prequel or a heavily critical fanbase that bothered to continue.
But is it a similar case with Mob Psycho 100? HELL NO! The second season of Mob Psycho 100 has an outstanding score of 8.82 which, if you guys don’t know, makes it the 24th Best Anime.
That’s right ladies and gentlemen, the second season of our favorite Mob Psycho 100 is actually amongst the Top 25 Best Anime of all time.
Yeah, I am happy as well. The reviews are insane and the sheer amount of appreciation is humongous!
These pieces of praise include appreciation for characters, animation, and narrative. The way this story portrays its message struck the hearts of most viewers.
No wonder it is SO admired. Across the board, we can easily say that the Mob Psycho 100 franchise absolutely nails it with regards to review and ratings.
One of the best anime for a reason, right? But now I know what you are thinking. “Hey, if the reviews are so positive, why don’t we get another season yet!?
Is there a problem with regards to budget or sales?” Well, why not try and answer this question as well?
Profit And Sales Details Of Mob Psycho 100 Season 3
Now is the time for one of the most important aspects of anime creation. Now is the time to discuss SALES.
You see, anime isn’t for charity. Almost every single piece that is made by creators is made to earn maximum profit.
So yeah, that goes for shows like Mob Psycho 100 as well. Even though the studios gave a lot of freedom to their animators, the show is still meant to earn money to have another season.
So let’s see the profit and sales details of this series.
First up, we are going to look at the manga sales for this franchise. Well weebs, the truth is very comforting.
Mob Psycho 100 Manga had over 1.2 million copies in circulation as of July 2016.
That’s a great number which could be the potential reason for the next season to show up in the upcoming years.
That’s a green light from our end. And did I mention that it has won the 62nd Shogakukan Manga Award in the shōnen category?
Don’t question it ever again. I would like to mention that these manga sales are not as high as you might expect them to be because this series is a web manga that can be read for free online.
So yeah, 1.2 million with that background is a considerable number. Feel free Mob Psycho 100 fans, things are looking great.
Now let’s take a look at the prime source of earning for any anime, Bluray sales.
If you want to support the industry, just buy the Blu-ray set because that significantly contributes to the making of a series.
So considering Blu-ray sales is very crucial for our analysis. Let’s see what we have got here.
So the first volume of Mob Psycho 100 Blu-ray set sold over 4220 (cumulative) copies.
In comparison, Dragon Ball Super had (cumulative) sales of around 670. So yeah, these numbers are really good, especially from a weekly standpoint.
But that’s the case for season 1. What about season 2 you may be thinking.
Well, that’s not as positive as you might think. The second season of Mob Psycho 100 sold only around 1408 copies of BD.
That’s not a great number. However, these sales numbers might not be as significant nowadays because we have streaming platforms now.
So even if Mob Psycho 100 has dropped in sales as the season continued, the potential reason could be the use of Netflix or other streaming services.
So don’t lose hope my Mob Psycho 100 homies. These numbers are good on their own.
Finally, let’s take a look at the merchandise offered by the franchise. 25 figurines which include Reigen, Dimple, Mob, and Teruki.
Over 1000 items are available as general merchandise. The figurines didn’t contribute to the major part of their income since many of them were fanmade but other merch did.
So the series has earned quite a considerable amount from merch sales. Across the board, the series seems to be a bit lacking in the manga, Blu-ray, and figurine sales.
However, streaming and merch make up for it. We can assume that the series made enough profit that it wouldn’t have to bother about money for the next part.
Now if the 3rd season does end up on TV screens, which characters would make their appearance?
Let’s try to answer this question as well.
Famous Characters To Reappear In Mob Psycho 100 Season 3
From our in-depth analysis so far, we can say that Mob Psycho 100 is most likely going to get a sequel.
But if it does, which characters are going to return for our entertainment? Let’s have a look.
The heart and soul of the show, Shigeo Kageyama, is bound to show up again in the upcoming season of our beloved series.
Mob has improved quite a lot as the season passes by so we can be certain that his developed character would bring more qualitative content in the next part.
If Reigen doesn’t make it to the next season, I am quitting Mob Psycho 100.
Like for real. He is the actual deal here ladies and gentlemen. One of the prime reasons why I absolutely loved Mob Psycho 100 season 2 is the Reigen arc which is, in my opinion, the best Mob Psycho 100 arc.
The amount of connection and relatability that we got from that arc was incredible. Made Reigen one of the most finely written characters in modern anime.
Dimple aka Ekubo is also an important character from the franchise. Yes, he isn’t in the spotlight all of the time but his overall contribution to the series is heavily significant.
We just can’t help but admire his presence.
Mob’s younger brother also had a great character arc in the previous season which made him an exceptional person.
That arc was probably the second-best arc in the series and I know you love it.
As time passes by, Ritsu becomes more and more defined as a personality and seems to contribute significantly to the story.
He gets his spotlight and tries to make the most out of it. His reappearance in the next season is vital.
I believe this would do it for now. Of course, there are other notable characters but for now, these are the important ones that need to return in the third season.
By the way, we have discussed almost everything about Mob Psycho 100, right? But I believe there are a few more things that we need to talk about before concluding this article.
Let’s have a quick look at them.
Other Decisive Factors for Mob Psycho 100 Season 3
For the most part, this article has a comprehensive understanding of Mob Psycho 100 and the reasons for its 3rd season.
We have discussed almost everything we should have but there are 2 other factors we need to consider to reach a more precise conclusion.
Let’s have a quick look at them.
Ending Of Mob Psycho 100 Season 2
First up, we have to remember the ending of Mob Psycho 100 Season 2 because the ending of one season is the opening for another.
So hit your head and remind yourself what happened in the last few episodes. If you remember, the evil organization CLAW was on the verge of defeat, and the boss of the organization, Toichiro Suzuki, was set on self-destruction.
However, our boy Mob decided to NOT abandon him and instead, give him a warming farewell.
In the end, Mob ends up saving Toichiro as well as the area around him from a massive explosion.
Later on, Toichiro hands himself over to the police and quits his acts. Looking back at his life, he realizes that his ideologies were wrong and Mob has always been on the right path.
Finally, we get to see Mob and Reigen in his office with a new employee, and the story ends.
As you can see, the evil organization that claimed to have the strongest of ESPers was defeated so technically, the story shouldn’t have anything more to display.
But there are a few problems here. As claimed by Toichiro, he searched the entire world and couldn’t find a stronger psychic than him but Mob was stronger than him.
Meaning there is a possibility of more ESPers in the world that could potentially be stronger than Mob.
Their meeting with him could be the plot for the next season. We also have Toichiro’s son claiming that Ritsu’s latent powers are stronger than that of Mob.
So the story can also take a turn in that direction. From a viewer’s standpoint, the series had a great conclusion that can satisfy many fans.
It wasn’t 100% definite but good enough for people to be complacent about it. Not to mention, the Mob vs Toichiro fight was a bit different from the manga which could potentially mean that the creators wanted to end the series with its second season.
So yeah, the ending of Mob Psycho 100 Season 2 might be a finite ending on its own.
Controversy Around Mob Psycho 100
‘Controversy creates cash’ but not every time. A lot of times, significant controversy can result in the cancellation of a specific series.
However, we can rest assured that there is no such problem with Mob Psycho 100.
It has not been a part of any major controversy for now. The one thing that people talk about a lot is the ending of the manga which wasn’t as top-notch as people wanted it to be but other than that, it’s a solid series.
A lot of people also prefer that the anime either uses the Omakes or tries to go for some original content to make the next season.
That’s a great notion since they can’t rely on the few left chapters of the manga but that’s in the hands of the producers we can just speculate for now.
So there you have it, weebs. Everything you need to know about Mob Psycho 100 season 3.
Overall, the only potential cause for not having a third season would be the lack of source material but we never know.
As fans, all we can do is speculate and rewatch. I hope you enjoyed reading this.
Until next time, Sayonara!
