Netflix cancels ‘The Couple’ series starring Neil Patrick Harris
Netflix canceled the dramedy “The Couple” after the first season. The series did not gain popularity among viewers: the project was released on July 29 and appeared in sixth place in the weekly top 10 Netflix, but disappeared from the rating a week later. Deadline sources also say that MTV Entertainment Studios tried to find a new home for the series and sell it to Showtime, but the deal fell through.
The series was about Michael, who thought his life was perfect until his husband left him after 17 years of marriage. Overnight, Michael has to face two nightmares: the loss of the one he considered his soulmate, and the fact that he suddenly finds himself a single gay man in his forties in New York.
The show was created by Darren Star ( Sex and the City , Emily in Paris ) and Jeffrey Richman (Modern Family ). The main role was played by Neil Patrick Harris, who also acted as a producer of the project.
