The revival of Justified on FX established its main roster with the addition of eight new players. Along with returning star Timothy Olyphant, the series will also feature Aunjanue Ellis (King Richard, When They See Us), Boyd Holbrook (Narcos, The Sandman), Adelaide Clemens (The Great Gatsby) “, Rectify), Vondie Curtis Hall (Harriet, The Night House), Marin Ireland (Y: The Last Man, The Umbrella Academy), Norbert Leo Butz (Bloodline, Fosse) / Verdon), Victor Williams (The Good Lord Bird, The King of Queens) and Vivian Olyphant.
Olyphant will once again play the role of US Deputy Marshal Raylan Givens. The official title of the miniseries was Justified: City Primeval and the story was inspired by the book City Primeval: High Noon in Detroit by Elmore Leonard. The series continues with Givens eight years after leaving Kentucky behind. Now living in Miami, he is trying to balance his life as a US Marshal and the part-time father of a 15-year-old girl (Vivan Olyphant).
His hair is grayer, his hat is dirtier, and the road in front of him is much shorter than the road behind him. A chance encounter on a deserted Florida highway sends him to Detroit. There, he crosses paths with Clement Mansell (Holbrook), also known as Oklahoma Wildman, a violent, sociopathic helpless man who once slipped away from Detroit’s best and aims to do it again. Mansell’s attorney intends to represent his client, the imposing Motor City native Carolyn Wilder (Ellis). He is caught between being a cop and being a criminal as his own game continues.
Production will begin this week in Chicago. Dave Andron and Michael Dinner will serve as writers, showrunners, and executive producers on the new series, directed by Dinner. Olyphant will serve as executive producer alongside the lead role. Justified creator Graham Yost is executive producing the series alongside Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly, Peter Leonard, Taylor Elmore and Chris Provenzano. Elmore and Provenzano are also writing for the series.
