Trailer shows there will be a fierce civil war

There is a saying in Westeros: “Every time a Targaryen is born, the gods toss a coin in the air and the world holds its breath to see how it will descend.” There’s a lot of Targaryen in the new Game of Thrones prequel series. HBO has released a new trailer for House of the Dragon, which will premiere August 21, with a story set hundreds of years before the time of Jon Snow and Daenerys.

Inspired by George RR Martin’s book Fire & Blood and co-created by writer Ryan Condal and director Miguel Sapochnik, the drama harks back to the golden age of the Targaryen Empire during the Dance of Dragons, a civil war that erupted years ago. The trailer also shows off more of the series’ finished special effects, including footage of Dragonstone, where House Targaryen’s ancestry sits, and of course real dragons and dragon eggs.

HBO also confirmed the rest of House of the Dragon’s main cast, including another major claimant for the Iron Throne that we didn’t mention. House of the Dragonin the lead roles Paddy Considine, Olivia Cooke, Matt SmithEmma D’Arcy, Fabien Frankel, Rhys Ifans, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best and Sonoya Mizuno is located.
