The Mysterious Benedict Society Episode 3 Recap

In the third episode titled ‘Depends on the Wagon,’ Reynie, Sticky, Kate, and Constance, try to work out what’s wrong with Mr. Benedict. Although it seemed like he suffers from a split personality, they soon realize that Mr. Curtain is actually his twin brother rather than alter ego. Benedict shares that they were separated in the orphanage as kids when he was adopted. Elsewhere, Kate is under a lot of pressure from her institute, which might sabotage her plan to solve the case of the mysterious messages at the tower.

To enter the tower, Kate needs to become a Messenger, which can be achieved by scoring impeccable grades. Moreover, the kids who fail to perform in the tests have to exit the institute after having their memories erased. Although it isn’t alarming, Constance and Kate are in the yellow warning zone, so they approach Mr. Benedict for an effective solution. But he only advises them to cheat, which bothers Reynie and Sticky, who, fortunately, make it somewhere near the top. Reynie is even confident in his chances of being promoted as a Messenger, that too, faster than anyone to have done it in the past.

Kate, however, is not ashamed about getting her hands dirty if it means she could step inside the tower. Her impatience is more evident when she risks receiving a written report for staying out later than the allowed timing. Constance then shows up just in time to save her. Reynie, in the end, mulls over different ways they could cheat on the test. He also needs to find a way to keep Mr. Perumal (who has figured out his deal unbeknownst to him) off his back. Milligan manages to grab crucial documents from the mansion without being caught by Curtain, who, on the other hand, is faring well in his program. His twin brother, however, gets an unexpected visitor.
