And to her credit, she was about to have the greatest job for her passion, the job of a librarian.

However, things started to take an unknown direction when her death took place due to an accident.

Her desire to read was so strong and she was so close to a perfect job and yet, she ended up with death.

For any anime, especially shounen anime, there is nothing more respectful than being called the “Big Three”.

For people who don’t know, the ” Big Three” is a term used for Naruto, One Piece, and Bleach at the time of their airing.

It was said that these are the anime that were ruling the markets and therefore had a name for themselves amongst anime fans.

Fast forward to the present, we have a new big three which include Demon Slayer, My Hero Academia, and of course, Black Clover. (For all those hardcore otakus, Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man, and Hell’s Paradise are part of Dark Trinity).

Therefore, for series like Black Clover, the audience needs to get their ears wide open.

Black Clover is a 170 episode long TV anime that aired back in 2017. It is an anime adaptation of a manga.

The manga was written and illustrated by Tabata Yuuki. The story is set in a world where magic is omnipresent.

Everybody has only one goal in their minds and that is to become the Wizard king.

The same mindset is held by our protagonist Asta and his brother Yuno. Yuno is a prodigy who has amazing prowess in magic and its control.

Contrary to his brother, Asta has no magic. In fact, Asta is possibly the only person in the entire world who doesn’t possess magical skills.

However, our boy hasn’t given up yet. Just as you would expect, our Asta is a man with the will of steel, and therefore, he trains himself physically to become adept at magic.

As time passes by, the brute reality of no magic hurts Asta but he overlooks that by his pain from a pushup.

One day, when magical books were being distributed amongst people, his brother ended up with the strongest book.

This made his brother, Yuno, look like the most potent magician. Asta on the other hand didn’t receive any book.

However, during a fight with an evil individual, Asta gets his hands on Black Clover, the book that is supposed to be created from Asta’s rage.

Later on, Asta and Yuno defeat the evil guy and swear to become the Wizard King.

This begins the journey of a man with dreams and determination to achieve what he desires.

Black Clover is an amazing shounen series from recent times. The title of Big Three is good enough to justify how entertaining it could be.

If you want some motivating yet simple stories then Black Clover is the way to go.

Now is the time to talk about a little bit of romance. You know, everybody loves their male and female relationships in anime and manga.

And when it comes to fantasy romance series, an anime that really strikes the cord is the popular Yona Of The Dawn.

Yona Of The Dawn is a 24 episode TV anime that aired back in 2014.

It is an anime adaptation from a manga. The manga was written and illustrated by Kusanagi Mizuho.

The story is set in the Kingdom of Kouka where Princess Yona seems to be residing.

This kingdom looks like an ideal and peaceful place for all human beings to reside and spend time.

Yona has been aware of the fact that her Kingdom needs no help and is in fine shape.

However, her perspective changes right after the murder of the King. Sudden chaos breaks out and Yona is forced to leave the place with only his bodyguard helping him.

Now as they both step into the actual Kouka, they realize that their judgment was more fogged than anything.

Corruption, malpractices, etc are going on in this kingdom for a while now. Moreover, this place has reached a point where bringing it back would be horribly difficult.

Therefore, Yona sets on a mission to gain all that she can to try to rebuild her kingdom.

With only an urban legend by his side, she has to do all she can to gain back her beloved home.

As you can see, the story is placed in a kingdom setting with our protagonist being a girl.

This alone makes it likable for the girls. However, the inclusion of adventure elements into the story makes it likable from males’ perspectives as well.

Thus, this series has become a work that needs to be recognized by even more fans like you and me.

His name is Keroberos and he explains to Sakura about her deeds. Simply put, Sakura released dangerous cards that have a will of their own into the actual world.

Kiki’s Delivery Service is a work that gives a completely different vibe to its reality.

Something that shouldn’t feel the way it does. Kiki’s Delivery Service is a 1 hour 40 mins long movie that aired back in 1989.

No food, no shelter, nothing. This is until she meets a baker who lets her stay at her bakery in exchange for deliveries.

That’s right! To make sure that she has a residence, Kiki has to make deliveries on her broomstick.

As time passes by, Kiki opens up her own delivery service and this embarks the journey of a girl who would understand the true meaning of responsibility and maturity.

You see, on the surface, this is not an extravagant synopsis. It’s a pretty basic story.

However, when you add this basic story with Studio Ghibli’s execution, it becomes something extraordinary.

It feels okayish when you read it but when you watch, it’s a completely different experiment.

The anime is an original work directed by Nakamura Kenji and animated by Toei Animation.

The story is about a man who goes by the name of “Medicine Seller”. Although that’s what they call him, he isn’t exactly a medicine seller.

He is actually an exorcist who slays spirits called Mononoke. However, this process of slaying is not as easy as it may sound.

Ladies and gentlemen, it is time for yet another Isekai series. But unlike our previous entries, this is a series that has ‘ENTERTAINMENT’ as its biggest appeal.

Yup, it’s a simple story with some super engaging execution and presentation. A hard day at work can be cured just by a single episode of this series.

That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime is a 24 episode TV anime that aired back in 2018.

It is an anime adaptation of a light novel. The light novel was written by Fuse and illustrated by Mitz Vah.

The story is about a guy named Satoru Mikami who was having a normal bachelor life until his personal world came to an end.

During a meeting with his fellow friend, he ends up in an accident and loses his life.

However, he gets to restart his life in another world as a slime (who would have guessed?).

As he is now a slime, he rebirths in a cave and starts eating nearby plants and animals right after gaining consciousness.

He keeps on doing it and soon he meets a dragon who calls himself Veldora.

After a long conversation, Veldora gives the slime a name. That being Rimuru Tempest. Later on, Rimuru realizes that Veldora has been sealed in this cave and so, he promises to bring Veldora back to life.

Then he escapes the cave and enters a mass of land where he has to do all he can to survive.

That Time I Got Reincarnated as slime is just about enjoyment. Like seriously! There is nothing special or outstanding about this series.

It’s just that the narrative and its execution are so befitting and entertaining at the same time.

Personally, it’s my favorite Isekai because it can make you relax on a hard day.

Don’t forget to take a look at it.

15. KonoSuba

KonoSuba

The base of fantasy anime for a lot of people is in the presence of an unknown world.

A world where nothing works how you might expect it to. This gives us the edge over anything and everything in that world that allows us to feel special.

Add a bowl of humor to this formula and BAM! You have one of the most ridiculous Isekai series out there.

Yup, I am talking about KonoSuba. KonoSuba is a 10 episode TV anime that aired back in 2016.

It is an anime adaptation of a light novel. The light novel was written by Akatsuki Natsume and illustrated by Mishima Kurone.

The series revolves around a shut-in NEET named Kazuma Satou who hasn’t touched grass for probably his entire life.

However, one day he decides to step out and buy a new video game. However, in the process of doing so, my man ends up dying as he tries to save a girl from a truck accident.

Turns out, he was hallucinating when he saw that truck, and instead, it was a tractor.

Moreover, he didn’t die because the tractor went over him. He died because he THOUGHT the tractor went over him.

After such a shameful death, Kazuma gets the opportunity to live another life in another world.

The Goddess of that world Aqua asks her to choose something and get sent to a new world.

Being the Otaku Kazuma is, he chooses to go into this world. But instead of choosing any of the weapons offered by Aqua, he chooses Aqua herself.

Now both of them are in a new world where adventures are waiting for them.

However, before going on any adventure, they must find a way to bring food to their table.

Otherwise, they might end up starving instead of killing some monsters. The journey of Kazuma Satou in this unconventional world is yet to begin.

A journey you would spend laughing all around. KonoSuba is a parody of Isekai anime.

It takes the general Isekai troupes and ridiculously twists them. This allows us, the viewers, to enjoy the series based on the preset image of fantasy anime we have in our minds.

With fledged comedy and fun all around, this is a series to let your mind free and have the most fun ever.

And it’s only 10 episodes, so what are you waiting for?

12. Re: Zero

Re: Zero

Have you ever wondered what would happen if you get Isekai’d? I mean I know I have been talking about a lot of Isekai in this list but hey, it’s a fantasy anime list.

Of course, it would have so many Isekai in it. Anyway, let’s come back to our topic.

What would happen if you went to another world? Will you get your own harem?

Or perhaps, you might end up dying. Who knows? And this possibility is explored more deeply in Re: Zero.

Re: Zero is a 25 episode TV anime that aired back in 2016. It is an anime adaptation of a light novel.

The light novel was written by Nagatsuki Tappe and illustrated by Ootsuka Shinichirou. The story is about our boy Subaru Natsuki who was just shopping for some groceries when BAM, he gets teleported to a completely new world.

Now being in a new world, what’s the first thing you do? Maybe get in a fight with some thugs?

Well, that’s what Subaru did anyway. However, in this fight, he is rescued by a girl who called herself Satella.

Later on, Subaru goes ahead and tries to thank her only to realize that Satella and Subaru are both going to die.

When Subaru dies while trying to save Satella, he wishes that he should have been able to save her.

But what is this? Right after his death, Subaru is teleported back to the exact same place where he first entered this world.

What’s going on?! What’s happening??!?? There’s only one way to find out. Re: Zero is one of the most unique Isekai series out there.

It throws away all the troupes of the Isekai series like harem or powers and instead, portrays a gripping deep story in a new world.

It is much more realistic and likable than most out there and the complexity of this series is great.

An anime worth watching if you have a free weekend upcoming.

And will I be incorrect if I say that, if it’s an adventure anime, it’s always One Piece?

This is the time to discuss one of the greatest anime series of all time.

A fantasy that has one of the most surreal worlds in all of anime. One Piece is almost a 1000 episode long TV series that started airing back in 1999.

It is an anime adaptation of a manga. The manga was written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda.

The story is set in a world where a new age of pirates has begun.

This is because the great Gol D Roger announced the existence of One Piece, a treasure that surpasses any wealth possessed by someone.

A grown young man with a cheerful personality. As he has been a fan of Roger since childhood, the existence of One Piece is a matter of challenge for him and he accepts this challenge right away.

Thus begins the journey of a young man with a dream to find the greatest treasure in the entire world.

He meets new people, makes friends, makes enemies, and the crew moves forward. One Piece is One Piece.

I mean, I have been asking you guys to watch an anime if you have a weekend free but for One Piece, you need at least 60 Weekends and a lot of determination.

But wouldn’t I say it, it’s worth all your time. It is one of the most successful media franchises and the only people who don’t like it are the ones who haven’t watched it.

When you have an aggressive day at work or school, you would like to watch or consume something that will calm you down.

Therefore, for someone who loves slow burners, I present to you the fantastic Mushishi. Mushishi is a 26 episode TV anime that aired back in 2005.

It is an anime adaptation of a manga. The manga was written and illustrated by Urushibara Yuki.

The story is set on the concept of ‘Mushi’, the most simple beings on the planet.

They are so basic that they don’t have anything as good or bad. They are just there.

And their existence or information about their existence is scarce. Everything I saw here is a very rough description of an actual Mushi.

To describe them more, we need more material for information. And that’s where Mushishi kicks in.

Mushishis are those who dedicate their lives to study about Mushi and their reason for existence.

Mushishi Ginko has always wondered an answer to this question and in the search for an answer, he steps out into the world.

He begins his chance for rumors that could be about Mushishi and tries to study.

From what we know, this might end up giving him the meaning of life. Mushishi is calm, soothing, and slow.

Unlike any shonen anime, the dynamics are low and the fantasy is brilliant. The story progress as it takes its time and explores the world they are a part of.

What are Mushi and what is the reason for their existence? These questions are answered beautifully in this series.

If you will complete it, you will understand why it won the Tokyo Anime Award in the Television category in 2006.

If you like slow anime, you will like Mushishi. It’s that simple.

The series focuses on the Holy Grail that promises to fulfill any wish asked. However, this phenomenon has already led to 3 devastating wars in the past with each of them being gruesome enough to have no winners at all.

However, the Einzbern family believes that this time, the outcome would be different. Their hold on the vessel of the holy grail is the reason for this confidence.

Therefore, Kiritsugu Emiya has been hired by the family so he could compete on their behalf.

To make sure that Kiritsugu does his part, they have made a marriage contract with him for her only daughter.

With 6 more competitors against him, Kiritsugu has to give it all. With the help of his familiar Saber, he will face the ultimate opponent of his life and a once-in-a-lifetime battle.

Who will prevail in this survive-or-perish situation? Fate series is one of the most complex pieces of works in anime.

With having a lot of parts and divisions of the storyline, Fate has gained a name in the community for being confusing.

But don’t mistake it because even though it’s a bit tough to start but once you do, there’s no way you would regret it.

A beautiful fantasy can be created even with a little touch of the unreal. Nothing too extreme.

Don’t believe me? Well, if that’s the case then I believe you haven’t watched Violet Evergarden yet.

Violet Evergarden is a 13 episode TV anime that aired back in 2018. It is an anime adaptation of a light novel.

The light novel is written by Akatsuki Kana and illustrated by Takase Akiko. The story is set in a world where a great war has just ended and normalcy is coming back.

Amongst this stands Violet, a 14-year-old who was a major part of the war and managed to destroy multiple enemies.

On the surface, she is like a doll, expressionless and to a lot extent, emotionless.

However, the one person for whom she had the most emotions is his Major. Major Gilbert was the only person that mattered to Violet but now he is not here.

Major lost his life during the war but right before dying, he said three magical words to Violet.

Then Violet didn’t get what Major was trying to tell her but now she wants to know the meaning at any cost.

Realizing that Auto Memory Dolls can understand words and emotions, she decides to be one.

All so she could understand the meaning of his Major’s last words. Auto Memory Dolls are individuals who write down the feelings of someone on paper.

However, when our emotionless violet tries to put people’s emotions onto the paper, she fails miserably.

But her determination stood strong and she began her journey as an Auto Memory Doll that reaches out to the depths of people so she could find out the depths of herself.

Violet Evergarden is a series that will make you ball your eyes out. The use of themes, references, logic, and the blend of fantasy and realism is incredible.

For anyone who wants to enjoy an emotional roller coaster that stands second to none, the only series I can recommend is Violet Evergarden.

It will change your perspective towards life and more importantly, LOVE! And did I mention that the animation is God-level?

It will arrive at any moment no matter what you are doing. Still, our boy Gon doesn’t give up and continues to go on this path filled with nails and fire.

I won’t be saying it is surprising to see this anime as the runner-up. I mean come on!

If you have watched it, you know how brilliant this anime is. The series is looked upon by many as a ‘Perfect’ anime.

This is the name it has created for itself. And I don’t think any other anime has such a prestigious name for itself as Fullmetal does.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is a 64 episode TV anime that aired back in 2009. It is an anime adaptation of a manga series.

The manga was written and illustrated by Arakawa Hiromu. The story follows the life of two brothers, Edward Eric and Alphonse Elric, also known as the Elric brothers.

These two are known for their proficiency in Alchemy. If you guys don’t know, Alchemy is the ability to transform the shape, size, and form of an object of your own will.

In other words, you can change a light pole to a car using Alchemy. But it isn’t all-powerful as you would expect.

To achieve some result, something of equal value must be given. If that doesn’t happen, Alchemy won’t as well.

That’s the law of equivalent exchange. But what is the value of a human soul?

Well, it turns out that the Elric brothers are the only ones who know about it because they are the only ones who have tried checking it.

Yup, the Elric brothers committed the biggest taboo in Alchemy by trying to use it on their dead mother.

However, in the process, they lost their bodies and their mother didn’t even get cured.

So now they are on a mission to bring back the bodies that they lost while doing the unthinkable.

But this is not going to be easy. In fact, as they try and search for the Philosopher’s Stone, a stone that can bring their bodies back, he gets to know that the root of Alchemy and equivalent exchange is much darker and complex than he initially thought.

Nation wrecking things are about to happen as you watch 2 brothers show the epitome of brotherhood.

As stated earlier, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is looked upon by anime fans as the ‘Perfect’ anime.

A series that has a perfect balance of action, drama, comedy, and seriousness. Blend it all in with Bones animation and you have a series that was looked upon as the best anime ever created for a long time.

It gained worldwide recognition, praise, and acclaim to the point that it felt like it was unbeatable.

However, an anime summoned up that managed to outmatch Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Still, this is one of the best fantasy anime out there and one of the best anime in general.

If you haven’t watched it, you are missing out a lot. Go watch it after you finish this list!

An anime that is going to be remembered as an all-time classic. A fantasy that breaks the boundaries of human imagination.

This is the time to talk about the best fantasy anime of all time. This is the time to talk about Attack On Titan.

Attack On Titan is a 25 episode TV anime that started airing in 2013. It is an anime adaptation of a manga.

The manga was written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama. The story follows a world where humongous monsters exist alongside humans.

And when I say alongside, I don’t mean they live happily together, I mean that these monsters eat upon humans and are part of the ecosystem.

However, to escape from ending up dead, humanity created a wall around itself. These walls were created so that humanity can function behind them and stay away from these monsters, known as Titans.

Countless times have humans tried to bring down Titans and they do succeed. However, the ratio is miserably low making behind-the-wall stay the most efficient option.

But Eren Yeager is sick of being trapped behind the wall and wishes to change his life.

However, his life definitely changes when his town gets attacked by Titans out of nowhere and his mother ends up losing herself.

The sheer amount of anger and rage was so high in Eren that he swore to kill every last titan alive.

He joined the scout regiment to learn the techniques of killing titans and is on his way to achieving his goals.

But where did the Titans come from and why are they here? All of these questions are part of a giant puzzle.

A puzzle that solves itself as time passes by. Attack On Titan is looked upon by many as the pinnacle of anime and entertainment in general.

A series that broke the internet multiple times, won prestigious awards, had the highest number of episodes on IMDb Top 10, and entertained the entire world.

It isn’t something that we see every day. Once in a decade, comes an anime like this that changes the horizons forever, and this time, it’s Attack On Titan.

Even if you look at it from a critical perspective, the concept, the animation, sound, choreography, anything, and everything is way too good.

This series has become what we would like to call a Modern Masterpiece. A new benchmark for many anime that are yet to be created.

With so many accomplishments under its sleeve and having excellent critical recognition, Attack On Titan stands as The Best Fantasy Series of all time.

Well, that’s about it weebs. This was Top 50 Best Fantasy Anime. I hope you had a fun time reading it and at least got 1 anime added to your watchlist.
